I finished up the week with 342 45's - would have got a lot more I'm sure had I gone to the first day of the record fair. Remember how I mentioned I'd visit Yesterday and Today in Miami later in the week - well after a convuluted way to get there what a disappointment. Mind you it was 15 years since I went last. Other than a hip pocket 45 (and 4 average others ) there was nothing there of interest at all. Great hanging out with you early in the week tho'john marriotthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16114463065908376974noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21258459.post-86071394213797155512013-10-23T19:28:09.304+01:002013-10-23T19:28:09.304+01:00I think the reason the UK missed out on Dion's...I think the reason the UK missed out on Dion's Kissin' Game may have been a result of EMI taking over and subsequently shutting down the Top Rank label. Eventually all the US acts who had records released on Top Rank transferred to the new Stateside label (eg Freddy Cannon, Gary US Bonds) but a few 45s by Dion and the Shirelles (Soldier Boy)went out on HMV in the interim. Of the few remaining UK acts, John Leyton landed up on HMV permanently and Craig Douglas went to Columbia (for one record).Nickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03534654679371832525noreply@blogger.com
